PRSA Award of Excellence to Atmos Energy
Dallas-based Atmos Energy’s Customer Service Organization recently received the national “Award of Excellence” from PRSA at the Silver Anvil ceremonies, in New York. Atmos Energy was honored for the number-two program in the U.S. in the business community relations category. Rand LaVonn, APR, managed the communications program Caring People Sharing the Warmth.
“It was the case study I created for the readiness review as part of studying for the APR,” said LaVonn. “The program was comprehensive in RPIE: research, planning, implementation and evaluation. Atmos Energy matched customers with energy assistance agencies across 12 states, resulting in an additional $2.5 million for customers. In phase two, donations to the utility’s Sharing the Warmth program increased 24 percent and the number of people donating increased 26 percent! All of this happened during the worst recession in our lifetime.”
“We were told it was a textbook program that made a significant difference in the lives of thousands of people,” added LaVonn. “Studying for the APR shaped the data-driven program leading to robust measurement.”
